Built by someone who lived the problem.

VetMate was created by a veterinary nurse who got tired of the same paper chart she'd been filling out for a decade.

Clare Porz — Veterinary Nurse & Founder

Clare spent over 10 years working as a veterinary nurse across mixed and small animal practices in Australia. Throughout her career, one thing never changed: the anaesthetic chart. The same handwritten form, the same risk of missed fields, the same scramble to produce records at audit time.

In 2023, Clare decided to do something about it. She founded Vet Mate Tech with a simple goal: give veterinary nurses a tool that's as intuitive as a paper chart, but as powerful as modern software. VetMate was designed from the ground up with real clinic workflows in mind — not bolted onto an existing practice management system.

"The nurses using VetMate are my colleagues. I wanted to build something I'd actually want to use myself — something that helps you do your job better without slowing you down."

What we stand for.

Patient first

Every feature is designed to keep nurses focused on the animal, not the admin. If it slows you down at the table, it doesn't belong in VetMate.

Clinical accuracy

Our templates are built with specialist anaesthetist input. We take completeness seriously — because a missed field in an anaesthetic record is a clinical risk.

Built with nurses

We talk to vet nurses constantly. Every update is shaped by feedback from the people using VetMate in real clinics, not assumptions made in a boardroom.

Constantly improving

VetMate is a living product. We ship updates regularly and take every piece of feedback seriously. If something's not working for you, we want to know.

How we got here.

2013–2022

10 years on the clinic floor

Clare works as a vet nurse across small animal and mixed practices. The anaesthetic chart never changes.

Early 2023

The idea takes shape

After one too many audit nightmares, Clare starts sketching out what a digital anaesthetic record tool would actually look like for a working nurse.

Mid 2023

VetMate launches

The first version of VetMate goes live. Early clinics provide critical feedback that shapes the product rapidly.

Late 2023

Covetrus & Petbooqz integrations

Official integration partnerships are established, allowing patient data to flow automatically into and out of VetMate.

2026 & beyond

Growing across Australia

VetMate continues to grow, with new features, more integrations, and a growing community of vet nurses who've put down the clipboard for good.
